Talk to Your Realtor when things are bad! Many times consumers think Realtors are only helpful when Buying or Selling a home, but that's not true. From time to time people fall on hardtimes and talking to your Realtor during these times may make you aware of options you haven't thought about.
Many times we get calls from people stating that their home is in foreclosure and they want to know what we can do to help. There are several things that can be done! Speaking to an attorney and a Realtor could be the difference between walking away with some money in your pocket and walking away with nothing. But a game plan must be established before you get to far into the foreclosure.
You are not the only one in this situation, we are seeing more and more people that can no longer afford their ajustable rate mortgage, or the breadwinner of the family has been layed off, or they have been a victim of divorce.
If you have equity in your home don't let the bank have your equity! Many times we can sell your home before it goes to foreclosure, in some cases we are able to negoiate with your mortgage company to sell your home at a reduced price without it being foreclosed on and in many cases without a deficiency judgment being placed against you after settlement. Bankruptcy might be another option that your attorney can help you with. That's why it is good to consult an attorney and a Realtor.
